1. What is the policy for Disabled Veteran parking at IAH and HOU?

Veterans who have active permanently affixed Disabled Veteran license plates or Texas Specialty license plates (as identified below) on their vehicles are granted complimentary parking at IAH and HOU based on parking availability. Houston Airports parking fees are waived for vehicles bearing active (unexpired) Disabled Veteran license plates issued by the State of Texas or any other U.S. state that indicates on the face of the license plate that the owner of the vehicle is a Disabled Veteran of the United States armed forces. Complimentary parking is applicable when the Vehicle is being operated by or for the transportation of the person to whom the plates were issued when exiting the parking area. Complimentary parking for Disabled Veterans & Texas Specialty license plates holders (as identified below) will be honored when the customer presents the following at the parking exit:

  • A vehicle that has permanently affixed active (unexpired) plate with approved Disable Veteran or specialty (listed below),
  • Driver’s License or Military Card, and
  • Copy of the current (unexpired) vehicle registration renewal receipt.  

Complimentary parking is extended to those veterans who have certain recognized Disabled Veteran Specialty Plates issued by the State of Texas as listed below:

  • 11th Armored Cavalry Regiment
  • Airman’s Medal
  • Air Medal
  • Air Medal with Valor
  • Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal
  • Armed Forces Service Medal
  • Army of Occupation Medal
  • Army Special Forces

Ineligible

  • Vehicles displaying temporary dealer tags or any cardboard or paper tags are ineligible for the complimentary parking.
  • Vehicles issued qualifying license plates, but owner has elected not to mount them on the vehicle.
  • If the person to whom the plates were issued is not in the vehicle when the vehicle exits the parking facility.
  • Valet Parking and parking reservations are not eligible for complimentary parking.

Refunds will not be issued after vehicles leave the parking facilities.

2. What are the steps to receive Complimentary parking?    

       a. Vehicle bearing the qualifying license plates must be present and the person to whom the plates were issued, as shown on the current vehicle registration receipt, has to be in the vehicle with proper identification.
       b. Driver must pull a ticket when entering the parking facilities.
       c. Drivers must exit through a manned (CASH/NEED HELP) lane.
       d. The attendant will verify qualifying plates on the vehicle and once verified, waive the parking charges.
