Ellington Airport is pleased to welcome the Lone Star Flight Museum to its campus. Houston's newest attraction draws students to STEM through the fascination of flight.
The opening was delayed due to Hurricane Harvey, but it officially opened to the public on Sept. 16.
The museum boasts one of the finest aviation collections in the nation. In addition to a collection of award-winning historic aircraft, the 130,000 square-foot museum features interactive, educational exhibits focusing on the science, technology, engineering, and math concepts essential to flight while allowing visitors to explore Texas’ rich aviation heritage. Another highlight of the new facility is a $1 million Aviation Learning Center and the Texas Aviation Hall of Fame.
The aviation museum was previously located in Gavelston, Texas. Officials made the decision to relocate to Ellington Airport after it suffered heavy damage from Hurricane Ike in 2008.
