Thousands of  passengers came through Houston Airports for the 45th annual Chevron Houston Marathon and the 16th Aramco Houston Half Marathon which was held Jan. 15, 2017.

Houston Airports added staff and volunteers to ensure the runners received a warm welcome. In addition, directional and welcome signage was placed in the terminals.

The race is an international event with runners from around the world coming to Houston to take home the top prize. International Relations worked closely with the organizer to ensure a seamless transition for the athletes, their families and spectators by providing a personlized welcome and facilitation. 

For the last seven years, someone from Ethiopia has won the men's competition in the Houston Marathon, but this year it was Dominic Ondoro, from Kenya. Meskerem Assefa from Ethiopia won the women’s competition.
