Aviation Director Honored at Houston Hispanic Chamber of Commerce Elected Officials Reception
Director of Aviation Mario Diaz was honored with an “Excellence in Service” award at the 2016 Elected Officials Reception hosted by the Houston Hispanic Chamber of Commerce. The “Excellence in Service” award was presented to transformative leaders in the Hispanic community. The Elected Officials Reception was hosted at The Houston Club and featured over 150 guests. Chief Municipal Affairs Officer Rhonda Arnold joined Director Diaz at the event which also featured Mayor Sylvester Turner, City Controller Chris Brown, Council Members Karla Cisneros and Robert Gallegos, Chief of Police Martha Montalvo, and the City’s Director of Education Juliet Stipeche.
Houston Airports Joins "Business Talk" event to connect with MWDBE companies
Airport Minority Advisory Council President and CEO Krystal Brumfield joined Chief Municipal Affairs Officer Rhonda Arnold for a special “Business Talk” event hosted at 4212 Almeda on October 19. The reception was aimed at connecting small, minority, women and disadvantaged business owners (MWDBE) to contract administrators and decision makers in the private, federal, state and city departments. This event was coordinated and supported by Layle McKelvey and Ruby McCleary of United Airlines, as well as Goodwille Pierre.
Houston Airports Supports Greater Houston Black Chamber's Pinnacle Awards Ceremony
Houston Airports was pleased to support the Greater Houston Black Chamber’s 22nd Annual African-American Business Achievement Pinnacle Awards Gala on Saturday, October 22 at the Power Center in Houston. This year, the honorary chairs were Mr. George E. and Mrs. Thomasine Johnson Owners of George E. Johnson Development, Inc. and Mr. Donovan Casanave, Supplier Diversity Manager of Shell Corporation. The Pinnacle Awards were created in 1994 to honor and showcase successful African American owned businesses in our city and region. The event helped to continue to connect the Houston Airport System to potential business partners and to encourage the continued support of our airports by diverse communities. Houston Airports was represented by Chief Municipal Affairs Officer Rhonda Arnold as well as Anthony Shipp, Aisha Stewart, Melvin Price, and Tyrone Sergeant.
