HOUSTON — Just weeks after launching its new non-stop route between George Bush Intercontinental Airport and Manchester Airport in England, Singapore Airlines announced it will debut its A350 service in Houston in January 2017.
The twin-jet featuring Singapore Airlines’ new three-class cabin (business, premium economy and economy) will service the route between Houston and Manchester beginning Jan. 17, 2017. The A350, which can seat up to 366 passengers, replaces the 278-passenger Boeing B777-300 Extended Range aircraft originally used for the route.
“The Houston Airport System is proud to offer a wide variety of destinations and services through our outstanding airline partners,” said Molly Waits, the Director of Air Service Development for the Houston Airport System. “We have operations in Houston ranging from the 19-seat jetstreams and regional jets, all the way up to jumbo B747s and the double-decker Airbus A380. With Singapore Airlines’ updated service, Houston now adds the Airbus A350 to the family of aircraft options commercially operated in Houston for customers to choose.”
Singapore Airlines and Houston Airports celebrated the launch of the airline’s new route Sunday, Oct. 30, 2016, when the inaugural flight between Manchester Airport in England and George Bush Intercontinental Airport in Houston touched down. That new route replaced the previous Houston to Singapore via Moscow operation.
“Singapore Airlines is proud to be the first airline to bring the A350 to Houston's Bush Intercontinental Airport,” said Dennis Teo, Area Manager, South Central division for Singapore Airlines. “As the world's most technologically advanced aircraft, the A350's many features help us to deliver the next generation of sophisticated and comfortable flying experiences to our passengers. We look forward to welcoming Houstonians and Texans aboard our new aircraft and treating them to the best in air travel.”
Singapore Airlines offers five weekly flights from Houston to Manchester, each with continuing service to Singapore Changi Airport, where travelers have convenient connection options to more than 50 destinations throughout Asia. Travelers flying Singapore Airlines to Manchester also can take advantage of new connections to Paris, Milan and Amsterdam via the carrier’s partnership with Flybe, providing seamless single-ticketing to these three popular European destinations.
