From Shoeshine Services to joining the Sunflower Lanyard Program, passenger-centric initiatives are delivering excellence at Houston's airports from curb to gate.
Houston Airports continues to redefine the passenger experience by rolling out a wide range of amenities dedicated to reinventing the airport experience. Emphasizing that the passenger journey begins long before boarding a flight, Houston Airports has implemented significant changes across various touchpoints at George Bush Intercontinental Airport (IAH) and William P. Hobby Airport (HOU).
From new Interactive Visitor Kiosks (IVKs) providing real-time information at the touch of a screen to the Sunflower Lanyard Program catering to hidden disabilities and the all-electric courtesy carts that move passengers from parking facilities to the airport, every detail has been carefully considered.
This comprehensive suite of new amenities in 2024 reflects the commitment of Houston Airports to provide 5-Star customer service and a world-class airport experience.
Upgraded guest courtesy carts at IAH and HOU | Houston Airports recognizes that the guest experience begins in its parking facilities. New and upgraded courtesy carts at the IAH Terminal Garages and HOU ecopark lot now feature comfortable seating for six in an enclosed cart that better protects guests from the elements. The courtesy carts are also 100% electric vehicles, which aligns with the commitment of Houston Airports to become carbon neutral by 2030.
Shoeshine Service returns to IAH | The service, which were suspended due to the COVID-19 pandemic, has returned to IAH. Passengers can visit one of three locations:
Terminal A Lobby
Terminal A South Rotunda (post-security)
Terminal B near the Skyway station entrance.
Shoeshine Service returned to HOU last year. The location is near the airport entrance.
IVK Directories at IAH and HOU | New interactive visitor kiosks, or IVKs, are now installed at IAH and HOU. The new IVKs feature a modern and sleek design, content similar to information found on the free Houston Airports mobile app. Content is updated in real-time.
Sunflower Lanyard Program at IAH and HOU | Houston Airports has incorporated the use of the Hidden Disabilities Sunflower at IAH and HOU. The Sunflower Lanyard is a simple tool that helps airport staff gracefully accommodate guests who might need a helping hand, understanding, or a little extra time during any airport journey. Passengers can find informational materials such as posters, pins and stickers at airport information counters.
Feminine product electronic dispensers at IAH and HOU | Houston Airports, TRAX Analytics, and Aunt Flow have joined forces in a strategic partnership to elevate passenger well-being and convenience to new heights. Aunt Flow is a free electronic dispenser for feminine hygiene products. The pioneering solution is designed to offer complementary, hygienic and readily accessible period products to travelers. The electronic dispensers guarantee a consistent supply through real-time monitoring. At IAH, the dispensers are installed at the women’s restrooms located by gate A7 and at the D-E connector tunnel. Aunt Flow dispensers will soon be installed at HOU.
New wooden benches, tables at HOU | In an effort to elevate the area immediately after a passenger clears TSA Security, Houston Airports replaced metal benches with more comfortable and visually appealing wooden-style benches at HOU. A new set of tables invite guests to repack their items once they’ve cleared security, and it frees up space on the new wooden-style benches for guests who may need a place to put on their shoes or wait for their party.
Chiroport at HOU | The first chiropractic service in a Houston airport is open at HOU. Chiroport is located in the HOU West Concourse and is staffed with licensed doctors ready to help passengers feel relief before or after a flight.
