George Bush Intercontinental Airport (IAH) has achieved a noteworthy milestone by successfully completing the annual Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Federal Aviation Regulation (FAR) 139 audit for airport certification. Notably, the audit resulted in zero discrepancies, marking the first time such a clean outcome has been achieved by the team at Bush Airport since 2018.

The FAA FAR 139 audit is a comprehensive evaluation conducted by the FAA to ensure U.S. airports adhere to established federal safety standards and regulations. Covering emergency response procedures, airfield maintenance, firefighting capabilities, and safety protocols, the audit serves as a measure of an airport's commitment to maintaining high standards in aviation safety and operations.

The week-long audit, which began February 5, involved the coordinated efforts of various divisions within Houston Airports, including Airside Operations and Maintenance.

“Successfully completing our FAA 139 audit without receiving a single discrepancy is like winning the gold medal at The Olympics,” explained Steve Runge, Chief of Operations for Houston Airports.
