Houston Airports ready for travel surge as Beyoncé lands in H-Town

Themed experiences planned as Cowboy Carter Tour stops in Texas.
HOUSTON—When Beyoncé comes home, Houston turns out and Houston Airports gets to work. As Queen Bey brings her Cowboy Carter and the Rodeo Chitlin’ Circuit Tour to NRG Stadium on Saturday, June 28 and Sunday, June 29, Houston Airports is preparing for a flood of fans anticipating her most iconic Houston show yet.
Houston Airports is ready for the Beyoncé bounce Passenger projections show spikes at George Bush Intercontinental Airport (IAH) and William P. Hobby Airport (HOU) before and after her back-to-back concerts. Houston Airports is bracing for one of the busiest non-holiday weekends of the summer.
“Houston shows up when Beyoncé comes home,” said Jim Szczesniak, director of aviation for Houston Airports. “We’re expecting an influx of fans from across the country and beyond. In 2023, we saw a TSA checkpoint throughput spike of 11% on the Monday after her show and 7% the following Tuesday. We’re ready for the BeyHive.”
Houston is the only Texas stop for the Cowboy Carter Tour, drawing fans from across the region. Houston Airports is leaning in with a special “Cowboy Corner” pop-up experience.
Cowboy Corner Pop-Up: vibrant digital signage, Instagrammable backdrops and activities. IAH – Terminal A (Post-Security) HOU – Ticketing Lobby (Pre-Security) Dates: Thursday, June 26; Friday, June 27; Monday, June 30 Hours: 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Additional activations include: Live Harmony in the Air performances celebrating Beyoncé’s return. Digital signage welcoming fans to Houston. Additional volunteers to greet arriving passengers. Opportunity to try local dining from The Breakfast Klub, El Tiempo, Velvet Taco, The Annie, Hugo’s, Landry’s, The Rustic, and Throughgood Bistro, which partners with Beyoncé’s BeyGOOD initiative to fight food insecurity.
TRAVEL ADVISORY
All passengers, regardless of reason for travel, should plan for larger crowds and arrive to the airport early between June 26 and June 30.
And yes—boots, fringe and glitter are all carry-on approved. As Queen Bey says, “This is Texas. Welcome to Houston.”
