Construction may impact traffic at Hobby Airport

HOUSTON—Houston Airports is excited to announce the construction of a new covered departures canopy at William P. Hobby Airport (HOU), part of a $470 million multi-phase West Concourse expansion project.

This sleek walkway will connect the Red Garage directly to the Ticketing Lobby, making the passenger journey more comfortable and efficient. The canopy's completion is expected by June 2026.

What’s Happening:

  • Dates: July 8 – September 30, 2025
  • Times: Nightly, Sunday to Friday, 8 p.m. to 4 a.m.
  • Impact: Only one Departures curbside lane open; expect increased traffic and possible delays.

  • Increased Houston Police presence to keep traffic flowing and assist quickly if needed.
  • Extra signage and staff to guide you smoothly in and out of the airport.

What You Can Do Arrive early and consider alternative drop-off locations on the Arrivals curb, if possible.
