Just in time for the NBA All-Star Game in Houston and the beginning of March Madness, the Houston Airport System today inaugurated the long-awaited Clyde Drexler Sports Scene retail shop at Bush Intercontinental Airport (IAH).
The store, located within Terminal C at IAH, was opened in conjunction with HMSHost and the Houston 8 Team, LLC, two concession operators at IAH, and provides a unique venue for sporting goods and apparel inspired by Clyde (the Glide) Drexler's hall-of-fame basketball career with the Houston Rockets.
Drexler helped the Houston Rockets win their second NBA Championship in 1995 and was recognized as one of the NBA’s tops 50 players in 1996.
“In basketball and in business it’s important to pick the right team. The Houston 8 partnership is a great team and we’re so |

happy to work with HMSHost to bring the Clyde Drexler Sports Scene to Houston,” said an excited Drexler at the ribbon cutting event of his new store.
Also in attendance at the inauguration were Congresswoman Sheila Jackson-Lee and Mayor Pro-Tem Carol Alvarado. Both public servants praised the opening of Drexler’s store as a reflection of Houston’s booming economy.
“The Houston Airport System is one of the most powerful generators of jobs and economic growth in the Houston area,” said Councilwoman Alvarado. “The three-airport system serves more than 48 million passengers each year, supports more than 151,000 local jobs and generates in excess of $24 billion in tax-free revenue each year.”
