Each year the Houston Airport System’s (HAS) three airports – George Bush Intercontinental, William P. Hobby and Ellington Field – generate countless business opportunities for local entrepreneurs.

This year, the HAS Small Business Development and Contract Compliance Division is searching for more local entrepreneurs to take advantage of the many business opportunities available at Houston’s airports.

On Friday, September 15, 2006, local businesses are invited to participate in the first annual HAS Business Opportunity Networking Fair. This free event will provide seminars and one-on-one sessions that will be held throughout the day.

Representatives from several HAS divisions such as Design and Construction, along with professional service providers, prime contractors and concessionaires will be on-hand to provide tips and networking opportunities to all participants. In addition, the fair will feature government and private sector representatives and city of Houston certification information.

“This year we are expecting to serve more than 52 million passengers by the end of the year,” said Richard Vacar, director of the Houston Airport System. “What that means is more business for the city of Houston and more opportunities for local entrepreneurs. The 2006 Business Opportunity Networking Fair will serve as a how-to guide on doing business with our airports.”

Another great feature of the fair is “The Taste of the Airport.” Many of HAS’s concessionaires will generously provide a light lunch to attendees. Enjoy a taste from such concessionaires as DNC Travel Hospitality Services, 4 Families of Houston, HMS Host and much more.

The Houston Airport System generates in excess of $24 billion in positive economic impact to the Greater Houston region and supports more than 151,000 local jobs. In order for the airport system to continue being an economic success, development efforts must continue.

The HAS Business Opportunity Networking Fair will be held from 8:00 am to 3:00 pm at the Humble Civic Center, located at 8233 Will Clayton Parkway in Humble, Texas. For more information, please visit our website at www.fly2houston.com .

Space is limited to the first 300 registered attendees, so register today by email at SBDCCD@cityofhouston.net . Please make sure to provide the name(s) of attendees, your company name, address, capabilities, and phone and fax numbers. We look forward to seeing you there.
